OTHER QUESTIONS

I’M NOT FDA, CAN I APPLY?

Usually only those who are FDA are able to get a pack. But the Housing Executive can decide that people who are not FDA can receive a pack under special circumstances. Members of the public cannot apply, and you must go through the NIHE who will decide whether to apply for you.

I’VE APPLIED BEFORE, CAN I APPLY AGAIN?

You can only receive one pack, due to the fact that there are limited numbers of packs and a lot of applications.  If you applied before, but didn't get a pack, you can ask the NIHE or homelessness organisation you are in contact with to check if you're eligible. (If you are not FDA, you must go to the NIHE).

THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH MY PACK

To the best of CHNI's knowledge, all products come as new, with manufacturer's warranties, guarantees, and meet UK safety requirements. If, for whatever reason, an item in your pack was missing, or faulty when you received it (i.e. within 7 days), please get the person who made the application for you to contact us and we will see if we can help. But please remember, we are not responsible for the quality of goods, nor for goods once they're passed on. Items that develop a fault once you've received the pack, will need to be replaced / fixed under the manufacturer's warranty - this means you will have to contact the manufacturer to sort out the fault.

MY APPLICATION WAS SUCCESSFUL - HOW DO I GET MY PACK? HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Members of the public (e.g. person moving in to the new home, their friends, or family) cannot pick up the pack. The pack must be collected by the organisation that made the application. We advise that an extra pair of hands is brought when collecting as, unfortunately, we do not have the staff to assist with moving packs). It is the responsibility of that organisation who made the application on behalf of the recipient to make sure they get the pack. It takes about a week (no more than 10 days) for a decision to be made on a pack.

UNCLAIMED PACKS

If, for whatever reason, a pack is unclaimed, the organisation who made the application must inform CHNI as soon as possible. Under no circumstances should the pack be kept, due to demand - there's always someone waiting on a pack.

I'D LIKE TO TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT MY PACK OR THE SCHEME

WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM FOR THE PACKS?

The Starter Pack Scheme is only possible through the help and support of our funders, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive and the Public Health Agency NI.
