Through the continuous hard work of our staff team in our Northwest Office, based in Derry City, we provide high quality, one to one support for our members in the west of the country.
Our members represent a range of housing and homelessness services operating in the northwest of the country. These include temporary and emergency accommodation providers, those providing more permanent solutions, Housing Associations, as well as providers from mental health, addictions, and children services.
We provide support to our northwest members through one-to-one meetings and via a number of fora and seminars. Our NW Members’ forum is an opportunity for CHNI members in the area to meet, network and access specialised sessions.
CRISPP (Committee Representing Independent Supporting People Providers) is the strategic representative group for providers funded by Supporting People across N. Ireland. Membership is representative of the sector, and is comprised of organisations from the voluntary sector, Housing Associations and private organisations, including a majority of CHNI members. The group is jointly chaired by CHNI and NI Federation of Housing Associations.
For more about our two main fora - CRISPP and NW Members’ forum, contact us.
We also organise a number of specialised information sessions throughout the year, where we invite targeted organisations to outline their services to managers and experienced practitioners from member organisations. These sessions are designed to facilitate networking and partnership working amongst organisations in the Northwest specifically, and across the west of the country more broadly.
HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS WEEK
Homelessness Awareness Week (HAW) is a week of social and awareness raising events, held annually, to highlight the issue of homelessness across Northern Ireland, and to mark the continued efforts of organisations, staff, and service users working in the sector. Whilst no one organisation is central to event planning / co-ordination, each year, we take an active role in encouraging participation, and organise several events of our own.
Over the last few years, our members and their service users in the northwest have been particularly active organising social events during HAW. One of the highlights of HAW events in the northwest are the annual Homelessness Civic Awards, hosted by the Mayoral Office. We hope that this level of commitment will continue to be the case! So, get in touch, tell us your plans, and share the info wide and far!
