WE ARE THE VOICE OF THE SECTOR

Welcome to CHNI

CHNI (Council for the Homeless Northern Ireland), was founded in 1983 to represent organisations working with Northern Ireland's homeless people. Today, we are the sole representative organisation for over 60 organisations working with and supporting homeless people across Northern Ireland. We are the independent voice of the sector.

STARTER PACK SCHEME

Our scheme provides people moving from homelessness into new tenancies with home 'starter packs'. Last year (2017), we provided packs to more than more than 1200 people across Northern Ireland.

FARESHARE NI

FareShare NI is a regional food sharing network that aims to help vulnerable groups in food poverty by distributing surplus, 'fit for purpose' food, donated by the food industry.

If you’re homeless or you think you’re at risk of becoming homeless, your first stop should be the NI Housing Executive (NIHE). The NIHE are legally responsible for dealing with homelessness across Northern Ireland.

For out of hours telephone number, visit our main advice page.

#2. GET INDEPENDENT ADVICE

If you’ve already contacted the NIHE and feel you need more help, or you want advice about your circumstances, you should contact an advice agency like Housing Rights.
